What is pledging?
Pledging is the process by which a college student is inducted into a brotherhood. The requirements vary from one fraternity to the next, but generally involve activities completed over an extended period of time ranging from a few weeks to an entire year.

The pledging period is a time of initiation and testing; however, it should not be confused with hazing.

The activities that pledges will be expected to complete for AXE are designed to foster camaraderie and create a unifying experience throughout the brotherhood. While the specifics are classified, we can say that our pledging activities focus on cultivating trust, serving the community, and simply getting to know the members of AXE. Pledging culminates in a weekend camping trip where pledges are officially accepted into the brotherhood of Alpha Chi Epsilon.

For those who are nervous about pledging, it may be helpful to note that pledges - those trying to get into a fraternity - may back out at any time. Depending on the policies of the fraternity they may try again another semester. This is the case with AXE, though the reason for dropping out of pledging will be considered in these cases.
